Artists, thinkers, inventors, let´s have a gathering at Plato's garden in Athens.

Come and contribute with one of your most important questions, and suggest your answer within a 5 minutes speech.

As many know, the garden of Plato is said, to be the historic site of the worlds first (Temporary) Academy, lasting for about 300 years in its first period.

How to get there:

Find your way to «Monastiriou street» at «Akademias Platonos Square» about 3 km from the center of Athens. 

Continue Monastiriou street by walking another 10-15 min. and you will reach a park where you will find the excavation site of Plato's academy, next to the site of the ancient gymnasium.

«THE JURY» at PARALLEL UNIVERSITY 

11 March 1017, Arkivet, Kristiansand Norway

A team of actors, director and stage-manager, exercising the piece «JURYEN - 12 EDSVORNE» at PARALLEL UNIVERSITY (PU), which has been temporarily located at «ARKIVET»*.

The theatre play JURYEN (also known as Twelve Angry Men) is the narrative of a trial with death penalty as a possible consequence for the accused. It tells the story of a jury discussing the case of a young man accused for murder, which outcome seems to be obvious, but as more the jury proceeds their work the more aspects and individual concerns appear, asking outspoken and unspoken questions, complicating, involving and confronting us not at least with our own prejudges.

By performing the play in an informal setting the usual distance between audience and performers could be avoided, conventional perspectives questioned and almost confused.

After a 2 hours lasting performance we had an open talk, remarking characters and situations, figuring out relational, semantic and ethic aspects. Allowing insight in their working process and methods, actors and director could get feedback on their work and questions while still developing and adjusting it. 

For director Harry Guttormsen and his team the physical and historic context of the site «ARKIVET» (The Archive)*, has not been coincidence but a choice.

*ARKIVET as the site for this meeting, has been contributing with a temporary but serious and tragic context, as the building which nowadays serves as a centre for peace-research and documentation, has during the 2´nd worldwar functioned as the regional Nazi-occupants headquarter, administrating oppression, torture and deportation.

Regissør og dramaturg Harry Guttormsen jobber for øyeblikket med innøvingen av teaterstykket JURYEN - 12 EDSVORNE, også kjent som film klassiker »Twelve Angry Men». 

«Teamet bak JURYEN inviterer til en intim lesning og vil gi oss innsyn i arbeidsmetoden deres. Midtveis i prøveperioden ønsker de tilbakemeldinger på karakterer og situasjoner.

DET PARALLELLE UNIVERSITETET fortsetter derfor denne gangen på «ARKIVET». Stykket konfronterer med spørsmål om rettferdighet, fordommer og gruppedynamikk. Den anklagete ventes dødsstraff om den blir kjent skyldig. Det er ingen tilfeldighet at Guttormsen foreslo Arkivet som sted for gjennomgangen og dagens Parallelluniversitet. Guttormsen tok skuespillerne fra Kilden-stykket allerede med på research til Kristiansand tingrett for å oppleve rettsak i realiteten.
